Ice Core Expected to Contain Creation Evidence

ICR.org, 11/18/21, “New Ice Core Expected to Contain Creation Evidence”: Three long ice cores have been drilled and extracted from the East Antarctic ice sheet: the EPICA Dome C, Vostok, and Dome Fuji cores. Secular scientists have assigned ages to the bottoms of these cores: 800 thousand, 400 thousand, and 720 thousand years, respectively. Now, six international teams hope to drill a fourth deep ice core in East Antarctica, one with bottom ice labeled as 1.5 million years old. Because of concerns over global warming, they hope that gas bubbles within the ice will yield information about past amounts of atmospheric carbon dioxide in the supposed prehistoric past.

So is there a way to tell whether this deep Antarctic ice is just a few thousand years old, or many hundreds of thousands (or even millions) of years old?

Yes, there is. Physical markers, such as volcanic ash and debris (tephra) from short, explosive volcanic eruptions make it possible to see whether the creation or the secular model is more reasonable. If uniformitarian age models assign way too much time to the ice cores, as creationists argue, then those models can imply that tephra layers deep within the ice were deposited over ridiculously long amounts of time. For example, a simple age model for the Dome Fuji core implies that one tephra layer (thought to have originated from a volcano nearly three thousand miles away) was deposited on the ice over a period of about five years. That is an awfully long time for ash fallout from a single volcanic eruption!

Death Threats after Address Posted

Breitbard.com, 11/22/21, “J.K. Rowling Says She’s ‘Received So Many Death Threats’ After Family’s Address Posted on Twitter” [Excerpts]: J.K. Rowling revealed that she has received “so many death threats” after a group of “activist actors” posted a photo revealing the address of her home in Scotland. The Harry Potter author, despite being openly left-wing in her political views, has increasingly become a target for her views on transgenderism and women’s rights.

On Monday, Rowling took to social media, writing: “Last Friday, my family’s address was posted on Twitter by three activist actors who took pictures of themselves in front of our house, carefully positioning themselves to ensure that our address was visible.”

Rowling said that she believes the activists who took the picture—all of whom have since deleted their Twitter accounts—did so in order to “intimidate me out of speaking up for women’s sex-based rights.” The author said that as a result of her address being shared online, she has received “so many death threats I could paper the house with them.”

While an ardent liberal and a self-professed feminist, Rowling has been forthright in criticising the woke language codes surrounding womanhood and transgender people.

Distorted Lens on Israel/Palestine Conflict

JihadWatch.org, 11/22/21, “Duke Professor’s Distorted Lens into Israel/Palestinian Conflict” [Excerpts]: Israel exhibits a “colonial systematology about nativeness” in the treatment of online smartphone pictures of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, stated Duke University associate professor of anthropology Rebecca Stein during a Nov. 4 webinar.

That bias is evident in her Duke classroom, where last spring she announced to her class on social media in the Middle East that “she doesn’t care what prior knowledge or experience [class members] have on the topic,” as the only documents to be discussed were those she introduced.

She has also praised the “Israel Studies” program at Birzeit University near Ramallah, a historic breeder of anti-Israel violence dubbed “Terrorist University” by some.

In [human right’s organization] B’Tselem’s Jerusalem offices, Stein herself saw her fantasies collide with hard facts. B’Tselem staff often discerned in Palestinian videos an “inevitable failure to persuade legal systems or Israeli public of the realities of Israeli occupation” or “of continued human rights abuses,” she said.

No matter how much technology advances, anti-Israel academic activists such as Stein view reality through a distorted lens. Their conclusion of Palestinians resisting Israeli colonial crimes is pre-scripted and not based on any body of evidence.
