Dear Mr McMahon,

I listened to your radio broadcast of your intolerance...of Alcoholics Anonymous. The message I heard was your breaking God’s command to love one another. I prayed for you and your guests on that broadcast. God’s answer was the same as always: “Love them anyway.” He also reminded me that the AA program, as with all things, is in His hands. I heard two truths in your broadcast: 1) AA does not quote Scripture and does not require belief in Jesus Christ for membership; 2) God works in mysterious ways. Most of the rest sounded like an unloving judgment of His people. JS (CA)

Staff of Berean Call,

Thank you for your solid stand on Scripture. In looking over some of the letters to you, I sometimes align myself briefly with thoughts of justifying things my way. But like the Bereans of old, we need to...compare it to Scripture and see if that’s the way Jesus would look at it. It is almost always humbling and we find we need only be the servants of the Master. TW (IA)

Dear Dave Hunt/T.A. McMahon,

I received your December newsletter last night and read T.A.’s comment on the persecution you are experiencing and am shamed for the Christian faith. I am not that surprised since I have followed this issue [Calvinism] re the book [What Love Is This?] from several months before it was published….I prayed for Dave as it was in the final stages. I asked God to use this to enlighten people, to break down tradition and philosophy and theology so-called. I prayed that it would make a difference and direct people back to the Scriptures, your organization’s motto. Please do not allow this to move you….We are servants of the Most High God, and it is to Him we must give an account….I am impressed by your spirit/attitude which [permeates] all that I have seen/heard….It speaks volumes. Dear Mr. Hunt,

Probably about 5 years ago I began receiving The Berean Call. As a very devout Catholic I was enraged by your outspokenness. I believe I wrote to you and asked, “Who died and made you God?” I then told you to keep your newsletter….God brought five families into our area. They established their church here and I was drawn to their prayer group….It didn’t sound like anything I’d ever heard in the Catholic Church. I began to read my Catholic Bible, asking questions, but still attending Mass. I became confused and concerned. Could so many people be wrong? Never had I seen such fellowship and Christianity [as in the prayer group]. In six months I began sensing an overwhelming sense of my sinfulness…. One Sunday morning—all alone—I met with the Lord, confessed my sinfulness and truly embraced Him as my Savior….I’m a very slow reader. It took me 3 1/2years to realize that I could no longer be Catholic….I have come to know Jesus in a way I could never have imagined….I apologize for my arrogance. Hopefully my letter will let you know that not everyone who writes you a scathing letter falls by the wayside. God planted many seeds in my life. Thank you for being one of them. BR (NY)

Gentlemen:

I am a very devout Catholic and treasure my faith. Your false blasphemies against our Church are outrageous, and Mr. T. A. McMahon will be punished in due time for his lies against Catholics….Let’s face it, the whole truth is that if everyone followed our spiritual leader, the Pope, who is very holy indeed, God would not have any of these problems of today. Go bury your “lying” newsletter! BH (MI)

Dear Mr. Hunt,

I just finished reading What Love Is This? I now have a better perspective on…Calvinistic beliefs….Thanks again for your wonderful exposé. I must admit that I do not always respond to your writing so favorably. Yet, I learned long ago to practice listening, for God can speak to us in many ways and through many people—even those whom we have shut our ears to in the past. GS (WA)

Dear Brethren,

Being aware of Brother Hunt’s special appreciation of Andrew Murray’s work, I thought you should be made aware of a recent “abridged edition” of The Holiest of All  for Kenneth Copeland Ministries. Mrs. Copeland wrote in her foreword,“As we prepared this abridged edition…I requested to delete three chapters and one paragraph from the original text, because they centered on suffering being the will of God….This was prevalent thinking when Andrew Murray first published the book in 1894. Even today many are still held captive by this belief…Light has come to the church through the years, and we have more understanding from God’s Word concerning the events and circumstances of life. We recognize that we have an enemy and his name is Satan.” JW (NY)
